2013 NBA Conference Championship Series
Heat over Pacers in 7: this will turn out to be a heated series full of aggressive play, similar to the Heat vs Bulls series earlier in the playoffs. The Pacers did dominate the Heat in the regular season, but the we’re in the playoffs now, and that’s a completely different story…
A Heat team full of confidence and plenty of rest defeat a Pacers team that is severely deflated on the bench, and Miami reaches the NBA Finals for a third straight year.
Grizzlies over Spurs in 6: Nobody had these two teams making it to the conference championship this year. Nobody. It was either Thunder vs Lakers, or Thunder vs Clippers. The Spurs were “too old,” and were thought to have been lucky to make it out of the first round. And then there’s the Grizzlies; a team no analyst could have seen reaching this far, especially after Memphis traded their all star SF Rudy Gay to the Raptors prior to the trading deadline. But despite all odds, here are the Spurs and Grizzlies, set to battle for the Western Conference Title. While the Spurs may have more experience in these type of situations (San Antonio has won 12 conference titles while Memphis has won zero) I think the Grizzlies will end up winning this series, and mainly because the Spurs can’t match up with the big men of the Grizzlies.
Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol are unstoppable on the boards and in the paint, and Mike Conley’s stellar play continues as the Memphis Grizzlies shock the world and make it to their first ever NBA Finals.
